Ercel Louise (Terry) Rigsby, age 86, of Morrilton, Arkansas, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, January 2, 2014. She was born November 28, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri, a daughter of the late Marvin Terry and Grace Wade Terry. The family moved to Springfield, Arkansas when she was about four years old and she grew up there attending schools in Springfield, Morrilton, and Beauty School in Conway, Arkansas. There she met Paul Sledge and they married in 1947. She and Paul had one son, Terry Paul Sledge. Paul was killed in a car accident in Dumas, Texas and Terry Paul passed away in Mayflower, Arkansas. Later Ercel married Donald Rigsby, where they lived in Cornelia, Georgia for many years. Because of the type of work Don did, they traveled to many states here in the United States. After Don passed away in 2006, she moved to Morrilton, Arkansas.
She loved to work with bead and sequins, making jewelry and holiday items such as Christmas stockings and magnets for decoration. As a young student she studied voice and she loved music and singing. She was a member of the Mt. Airy Baptist Church in Mt. Airy, Georgia and a member of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her older sister, Virginia Lee (Terry) Patterson of Thatcher, Arizona; niece, Virginia Charlene (Patterson) Boling of Thatcher, Arizona; a niece in Springfield and her family Peggy (Terry) Hankins; and other family.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Sledge and Donald Rigsby; son, Terry Paul; parents, Marvin and Grace Terry; brother, Marvin Terry, Jr.; and sister, Dixie Elaine (Terry) Hunter.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 6th at the Harris Chapel with Dr. Bill Brown officiating. Burial will be at Springfield Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
