Springdale — Joy B. Johnston Jr., 45, of Route 1, Elkins, died Sunday in the Springdale hospital. He was a furniture salesman, born Aug. 15, 1920 in Habberton and a veteran of World War II.

Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Elma Jean Johnston of the home; three sons, John Wesley, Von Lesley and Donald Marvin, all of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Donna Darlene Hawley of Hindsville; his mother, Mrs. Clara Johnston of Springdale; one brother, Donald Ray of El Segundo, Calif., and three sisters, Mrs, Vivian Cloer, Mrs. Jaynell Holmesley and Mrs. Betty Jo Howerton, all of Springdale.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Callison-Sisco Chapel with burial in Joyce Cemetery.

SPRINGDALE — Alma Jean Johnston, 80, of Springdale died July 28, 2008, at her home. She was born May 6, 1928, in Hindsville to John Floyd and Mary Jane Cornelison Sharp.

She was a farmer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Joye Johnston Jr., and a son, Von Johnston.

Survivors include two sons, John Johnston and wife Marcia of Elkins and Denny Johnston and wife Veronica of Lowell; a daughter, Donna Hawley and husband Ira of Goshen; a sister, Sonna Guinn of Goshen; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Joyce Cemetery with Earl Dean Morris officiating. Pallbearers will be Bo Jones, Shawn McCurry, Lonnie Siler, George Anderson Jr., Ben Anderson, Darren Johnston and Ira Hawley.

Arrangements are by Brashears Funeral Home in Huntsville, online at www.brashearsfuneralhome.net.
