Mr. Howard Cameron, 63, of Gosnell, Arkansas died Sunday, January 11, 1998 at his home following a long struggle with heart disease.
Born at Blytheville, Ark. to Marshall and Alta McClellan Cameron, he was raised in Steele, Mo. and graduated from Steele High School. He also attended Memphis State University.
Mr. Cameron came to Blytheville in 1956 and then moved to Gosnell in 1969. Following his retirement from Agrico Chemical Co. in 1986, Mr. Cameron became active in local community affairs serving as a Gosnell city councilman, member of the Gosnell Planning Commission, an organizer of the annual Gosnell Cotton Picking Contest and an active member and Sunday school teacher at Gosnell Baptist Church.
Mr. Cameron leaves his wife, Mrs. Sylvia Jane Moody Cameron, of Gosnell; a daughter, Marsha Halloran and her husband Michael of Dallas, Texas; two sons: Michael Cameron and his wife Gala of Alexandria, La. and Terry Cameron and his wife Melinda of Temple, Texas; his mother, Ms. Alta Cameron Koonce, of Steele; his step-father, Malcolm Koonce, of Steele; two step-children, Melanie Banks and her husband Eric and Charles Moody and his wife Ellen, all of Gosnell; a step-sister, Almadene Rogers and her husband Harold of Jackson, Tenn.; three step-brothers: Robert Koonce of Turrell, Ark.; Mack Koonce and his wife Jana of Hot Springs, Ark. and Jimmy Koonce and his wife Fanny, of Kennett, Mo.; and 11 grandchildren and step-grandchildren: Jason, Emily, Brooks Aaron, Michael Brooks, Tyler, Philip, Alix, Christopher, Mackenzie, Bryce, and Kathleen.
Funeral services for Mr. Cameron were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 1998, at Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Blytheville with Rev. Eddie Clemons officiating.
Burial was at Elmwood Cemetery in Blytheville with Cobb Funeral Home of Blytheville in charge.

Mrs. Sylvia Cameron, 73, of Gosnell died Monday, OCt. 2, 2006.
She was a lifelong of the Blytheville area, retired teacher and a member of Gosnell Baptist Church.
She leaves her children, Charles and Ellen Moody of Blytheville, and Melanie and Eric Banks of Gosnell; stepchildren, Marsha and Mike Halloran, and Terry and Melinda Cameron, all of Dallas; and Mike and Gayle Cameron of Alexandria, La.; and 11 grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Cobb Funeral Home in Blytheville with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
