BRIXEY, Mrs. Clarke {MARSHALL} - Mrs. Clarke Brixey died at her home in this city Monday evening at half past five o'clock. She had been failing rapidly for several days and her death was not unexpected. Death was the result of consumption and a number of complications with which she had suffered for the last three or four years. During her illness she had been confined to her home for a good portion of the time. Funeral services are being held this afternoon at the residence on South 6th street at 3:30 o'clock and will be conducted by Rev. Anthony of the Christian church of which Mrs. Brixey had been a member for years. Mrs. Brixey was born May 27, 1849 near Atlanta, Georgia and with her parents, T.R. Marshall and wife, came to Benton county a few years later where she spent the remainder of her life. The family lived near Garfield and there she was married to Clarke Brixey September 28, 1871. They settled just northwest of Rogers where they lived until a few years after the town was incorporated, then built the residence here where they have resided ever since. Mrs. Brixey leaves a husband and seven children: Mrs. Ruth Head and Mrs. Ida Owens of this city; Mrs. Lola Persley and Miss Olive Brixey, who are spending the winter near Ft. Worth, Texas; A.M. Brixey, Mounds, LT.; Marshall Brixey of Springfield, Mo.; and Wilson Brixey of this city. She also leaves 4 brothers and sisters: Mrs. W.H.T. Wilson and Mrs. W.B. Walters of near Garfield; J.C. Marshall of Little Rock and T.F. Marshall of Madison county. M.T.C. Marshall, who died two years ago, was another brother. Will Marshall of Mountain Home and Mrs. Sarah Walters of Garfield are a half brother and sister. By the death of Mrs. Brixey the community loses one of its best women and although sickness prevented her for a number of years from mingling often with our people she was held in high esteem by her many friends and her life will be a loving memory to her immediate family and other relatives. The Democrat joins with the community in extending sympathy to the bereaved family.
