Mabel Byrd Smith Shelton, 87, of Blytheville, Ark., died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born July 27, 1914 in Pocahontas, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lutie Williams Byrd.
She was also preceded in death by two husbands: Howard J. Smith and W.T. Shelton; two brothers: Carl Spikes and Paul Spikes; and two sisters: Ruby Neal and Frankie Bulmer.
She was a longtime Blytheville resident and a member of Main and 13th Street Church of Christ. She was a retired beautician, and according to family members, loved to read, watch television and enjoyed her grandchildren.
Mrs. Shelton leaves her daughter, Linda Manie and her husband Terry, of Blytheville; One sister, Vernell Eubanks of Blytheville; Three grandchildren: Ginger Manie and her husband Jim Hamm of Memphis, Tenn., Leah Manie Eddleman and her husband John of Blytheville, and Michael Manie of Aspen, Colo. and Three great-granddaughters: Shelby, Sydney and Sarah of Blytheville.
Funeral services for Mrs. Shelton were held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 13, 2002, at the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Blytheville with Mr. Craig Lindsey and Mr. J.B. Sheofec officiating.
Burial was at the Elmwood Cemetery in Blytheville.
