Mrs. Geneva McGhee Atkins, age 90 of Mountain Home, Arkansas and formerly of Blytheville, passed from this life on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Geneva was born to Edgar and Lou Ella Rogers McGhee in Aberdeen, Mississippi and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blytheville, Arkansas. Geneva was a housewife and volunteer at the Mississippi County Senior Citizens Center. She also loved to fish when she could and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She partnered with her husband Joseph when he built a miniature train and they ran it at Walker Park for over 30 years. Geneva and Joseph both received tremendous joy watching the children ride the railroad. That joy didn't stop there for she was also a den mother for the cub scouts. Joseph had a model train set (lots smaller) upstairs in their home. There the children would participate and be treated to milk, kool aid or cookies.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph Lloyd Atkins and seven siblings.
Geneva is survived by her son, Joe Lynn Atkins and wife Bonnie of Mountain Home, Arkansas; grandson, Michael Todd Atkins and wife Jennifer of Montgomery, Alabama and great great grandchildren Hunter Joseph Atkins and Lydia Alexandra Atkins both of Montgomery, Alabama.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 1:30 pm in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Billy Holifield officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until time for services at Cobb Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
