Ruby Smith
Ruby Smith, age 87, of Yellville, passed away Friday, January 17, 2014 at Eastwood Manor in Commerce, Oklahoma after a long illness. She was born February 19, 1926 to Harvey and Virginia (Carson) Callahan in Marion County, Arkansas.
She was employed by Boeing Aircraft and Wescon Plastics of Wichita, Kansas. She retired from Wescon in 1982 and returned to rural Yellville. Mrs. Smith was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was also an avid basketball fan.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Gerald, of 68 years; two children and their spouses, Don Smith and wife Kyle of Wichita, Kansas and Freda Cantrell and her husband Tommy, of Miami, Oklahoma. In addition, she leaves four grandchildren; Angela Milam (Kirk) of Bentonville, Arkansas, Kelsey Nichols (Kevin) Smith, Zach (Tiffany) Smith, and Traci Swindler (Scott) all of Wichita, Kansas; seven great-grandchildren; Dylan, Kinsey and Natalie Nichols, Blake, Kylie and Grace Swindler, Gabrielle Milam and one great-great-granddaughter, Emma Marie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Beulah Williams and five brothers, Doyne, H.C.(Jim), Lloyd, James Patrick and Etherage Callahan.
Services will be held Monday, January 20, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Yellville, Arkansas. Brother Fred Goodall will officiate.
