Vincent K. Cutshall, M.D., 83, of Bella Vista died Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. He was born Sept. 12, 1923, in Buckhannon, W.Va., to Elmer Guy and Neva Moss Cutshall.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Valdor and Vernon.

He graduated from Jackson High in Lincoln, Neb. He attended the University of Colorado Medical School and received his medical degree. His internship and internal medicine residency were at Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Denver, Colo.

He served in the Army from 1943 to 1946, in the 11th Armored Division, European Theater of Operations. He received Battle Stars and a Purple Heart when he was injured in the Battle of the Bulge. Vince served in the U.S. Medical Corps 1951-1958. He was at Fort Sam Houston Army Hospital, Tokyo Army Hospital in Japan and Walter Reed Army Hospital.

He practiced internal medicine at Central Plains Clinic in Sioux Falls, S.D., from 1958 to 1988. In 1970 he served as chief of staff of Sioux Valley Hospital and in 1974 as chief of internal medicine at McKennan Hospital. He retired in 1988 and moved to Bella Vista and was a medical consultant at Wal-Mart Corp. from 1993 to 2005.

Vince had two sports he especially enjoyed: racquetball and golf. He and his partner won the Third International Masters Racquetball Doubles Championship in Salt Lake City in 1971. He really enjoyed sharing his golf time with his grandchildren.

He was chairman of the board at Village House from 1991 to 1993. He was a member of the Bella Vista Men's Chorus, Racqueteers Club, Bella Vista Christian Church as a deacon and elder, Nine-Hole Golf Association and Straight Shooters of Bella Vista.

Vince had a love for God and was baptized into Christ in 1978. He was greatly loved and respected by his family, patients, church and friends because of his genuine interest in people. He had purpose in his life, even to the end, by giving spiritual counsel and medical advice. Vince was fun to be around and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Tozer Cutshall, whom he married on June 20, 1948; one son and his wife, David and Nancy Cutshall of Brookings, S.D.; three daughters and their husbands, Debra and Craig Peterson of Springfield, Mo., Diana and Barry Banks of Austin, Texas, and Donna and Steve O'Rourke of Houston, Texas; a sister, Vivian Edwards of North Bend, Wash.; 10 grandchildren, Thomas and Joni Cutshall, Erik, Matthew and Lindsey Peterson, Daniel and Rebecca Jilek, Christine, Kathryn and Anna O'Rourke; and two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Olivia.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at the Bella Vista Christian Church, 103 Riordan Road, Bella Vista, 72714. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Missions Ministry of the Bella Vista Christian Church, or Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, 72462.

Special thanks to Diane Henrichsen, R.N., and Vickey Douthit, C.N.A., of Circle of Life Hospice for their loving care of Vince.
