Friday, December 2, 1887
GARRETT. Jimmie – Uncle Jimmie Garrett died at his home near Goshen on Friday last, after a brief illness. He was one of the oldest and best citizens in Washington county and many sad hearts were at his burial Saturday. He leaves an aged wife and several children, one of whom is Mrs. J.B. Shannon of our city.
Ruby HOLT Vaughan recorded this tombstone information in November 1969, which reads:
"James B. Garrett, husband of Charity P., born October 11, 1816 died November 25, 1887"
Photo of tombstone was taken in 1944 and reads:
"James B. Garrett, husband of Charity - Father
Born October 11, 1816 died November 25, 1887
Dear is the spot where Christians sleep; and sweet the strains that angels pour; O why should we in anguish weep; They are not lost but gone before"
