Howard R. Martin, 77, of Boston, died June 4, at Boston. He was born June 20, 1895, at Coldwater, Kansas, the son of Virgil and Bessie Lamb Martin. He was a member of the Pettigrew Community Church and a retired saw mill operator.
Survivors include four sons, Orvill and Milburn of Pettigrew, Elmer of Springdale, and James of Fayetteville; three daughters, Mrs. Bessie Maggard and Mrs. Betty Baughman both of Boston, and Mrs. Ruth Maggard of Springdale; twenty-five grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 6, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cove Church with the Reverend Layton Porter officiating. Burial was in the Cove Cemetery under the direction of the Brashears Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Claud Eaton, Jim Bennett, Gene Johnson, Rual Myers, Everett Maggard and Billy Gibson.

Ida May Cowan Martin, 68, of Boston, died Friday, March 23, at her home after three months illness. She was born November 24, 1893 in Madison County near the Boston community, the daughter of James Henry Cowan and Emmaline Smith Cowan.
Survivors include her husband, H. R. Martin, of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Bessie Maggard, of Pettigrew, Mrs. Betty Baughman, of Douglas, Kansas, and Mrs. Ruth Maggard, of Boston; four sons, Orville and Milburn, of Pettigrew, Elmer, of Huntsville, and James, of Fayetteville; twenty-three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also two sisters, Mrs. Lou Richardson of Huntsville and Mrs. Martha Hart, of Downs, Kansas; and two brothers, Sheridan Cowan, of Cassville, Mo., and U. S. Cowan, of Wesley. An infant son preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held in the Cove Church at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, conducted by Rev. Harrison Collins. Burial was in the Cove cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home.
