Elbert
June 22,1879-Sept 11,1993
Son of Carrol Ward and Rachel Ellen miracle Anderson
A tragedy which shocked the community of Witter and elsewhere Saturday afternoon was the accidental death of Elbert Anderson, age 64 years, who was killed instantly when he fell from the roof of the new school building being erected in the Cove district near his home. He did not fall more than ten feet but struck head-first on a rock, fracturing his skull and breaking his neck. Funeral and burial were conducted at Cove cemetery Wednesday by Rev. Norman Drake. The arrangements were in charge of the Bruce Brashears Undertaking Co.
A pathetic coincidence of his deeply deplored death was that at the time it occurred his wife and a number of neighbors were at the cemetery nearby engaged in cleaning off and beautifying the grounds, which gathering had been called by Mrs. Anderson a week before.
Mr. Anderson was a native of the Witter community and had resided in same all his life. He was recognized as one of its leading citizens and was always identified with every activity that promoted the happiness and welfare of his family and friends. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons and one daughter, Ernest of Kansas City, Mo., Keith who is with the U. S. armed forces in North Africa, and Lorraine of the home; also by two brothers, W. W. of Orange, Calif., and E. L. of Muskogee, Okla.
