William Franklin Milligan, 81, well-known south Madison county resident, died at his home near St. Paul Saturday, March 7. He had been ill for the past two years but his death was attributed directly to a paralytic stroke suffered only recently.
Mr. Milligan was familiarly known to his many friends as "Uncle Bill". He was born in Missouri October 1, 1871, but had resided in Arkansas most of his life.
He was married to Elizabeth Keck on October 1, 1893 and they lived near the Cove community until 1904, at which time they moved near St. Paul and have resided there since. Mr. Milligan served as a school director for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Milligan of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Florence Anderson, who has been caring for her parents for the past two years but whose home is in Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Clara Ellerman and Mrs. Ella Berglund, both of Chicago; two sons, Bert Milligan of St. Paul and Isaac Milligan of La Habra, Calif. and several grandchildren. One son, Alfred, died in childhood.
Funeral services were held at Cove schoolhouse Tuesday, March 10 at 2 p.m. conducted by Charles L. McElhaney. Burial was in the Cove cemetery with the Brashears Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Cleve Langley, H. P Meyers, Hollie Stewart, Roy Kimball, Johnie Hawkins and O. D. Keck.

Mrs. Elizabeth Milligan, 89, of St. Paul died Saturday in the Madison County Hospital here. She was born April 8, 1872 in Madison county, the daughter of Isaac Keck and Desta Smith Keck, and was a lifetime resident. She was the widow of the late Wm. F. Milligan. She had been a member of the Methodist Church since the age of 13 years.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Florence Bryant of St. Paul, Mrs. Clara Ellerman of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Ella Melton of La Habra, Calif.; one son, Isaac Milligan of La Habra; 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Cove with the Rev. Hillman Byram conducting. Burial was in the Cove cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home.
