William Edward Reed, 86, Huntsville, died Jan. 28 at his home. Born Oct. 22, 1888, at Sedan, Kan., he was the son of William B. and Esther Bales Reed and a retired carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Pauline Hillard Reed of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Vera Shinn, Huntsville; one brother, Ralph Reed, Homedale, Idaho; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday at 10 a.m. in Brashears Funeral Chapel, Huntsville, with Rev. Noel Easterling and the Rev. Carl Nelson officiating. Burial was in Huntsville Cemetery under the direction of Brashears.
Pallbearers were J. L. Parker, Jerry Hawkins, John Reed, James Reed, Jim Auslam and Nathan Gaskill.
Honorary pallbearers were Alvin Sparks, Verne Stacey, Bob Gage, Derald Parks, Jim Warren, Charles Gurley and Asa Easterling.

Mrs. Nina Alice Reed, 73, of this city died at the Madison County Memorial Hospital here Thursday. She had been in ill health for the past several months. She was born in this county Feb. 2, 1888, the daughter of John Wesley Parker and Mary Jane Boyd Parker, and was a lifelong resident. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband, William Edward Reed, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Vera Shinn, of this city; three sisters, Mrs. Josephine Auslam, Mrs. Minnie Ledbetter and Mrs. Nora Withrow, and one brother, Jim Parker, all of this city; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. J. Hillman Byram. Burial was in Huntsville cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were: Rex Cox, Billy Ray Ledbetter, Luther Ledbetter, James Reed, Johnny Reed and Jimmy Auslam.
