Felix Sumner Brashears, 73, of Huntsville, Ark., died Oct. 28, 1991, at his home. He was born Dec. 31, 1917, at Elkins, Ark., the son of Bruce Sumner and Eva May Tucker Brashears.
He was a 1940 graduate of the Souther College of Morticians and had been a licensed embalmer and funeral director for more than 50 years. He was president of Brashears Funeral Home, Inc., which was founded by his father in 1936. He had served on the Arkansas Burial Association Board and was a member of the Arkansas Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force and had been a member of Hayes-Smith Post #137, American Legion at Huntsville more than 45 years. He had been active in many civic activities and had recently retired from the board of directors of Huntsville Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Jo Boomer Brashears of the home; one son, Sumner Brashears of Huntsville; one daughter, Ms. Lucina Brashears of Huntsville; one brother, Jack Brashears of Springdale; one sister, Ms. Marian Brashears of Huntsville; and two grandchildren.
