LEPANTO -- Funeral services for Alphas Earl Anderson, 86, of Lepanto who died Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Osceola, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Lepanto. Jim Duffel and Jessie Hodges will officiate, and burial will follow at Potter Memorial Cemetery at Lepanto under the direction of Murphy Funeral Home of Lepanto.

Born at Grubbs, he was a farm manager and the manager of Portis Grain Elevator for many years. He was an engineer, a former mayor of Lepanto and an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a Mason, a charter member of the Lepanto Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the American Legion, as well as a member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Lepanto.

Survivors include two daughters, Alpharetta Brewster of Lepanto and Jimmie Anderson of Memphis; two grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.

LEPANTO -- Helidora Anderson, 87, of Lepanto died Sunday, Sept. 1, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Osceola.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lepanto and was a retired bookkeeper for J.C. Portis Co. in Lepanto.

Survivors include her husband, Alphas Anderson of Lepanto; two daughters, Alpharetta Brewster of Lepanto and Jimmie Anderson of Memphis; two grandchildren, Robert Brewster of Petaluma, Calif. and Jason McKay of Sellersburg, Tenn.; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Lepanto with Jim Duffel officiating. Burial will follow in Potter Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Murphy Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
