Mrs Pearl Dixon Passes Away Monday

Mrs Pearl Dixon aged 60 postmaster of Mt. Olive died Monday morning in the Izard County Memorial Hospital at Melbourne, following a brief illness. She had been in failing health for several months, and was taken to the hospital Sunday after suffering a sudden attack of illness at her home. She had served as postmaster at Mt. Olive for 32 years and had served longer than any other postmaster in this section of the state. She had only recently made application for retirement.
Mrs Dixon was born at Mammoth Spring on March 22, 1893 moving to this section with her family many years ago. She had been a member of the Methodist Church since early age.
She is survived by a son, Harry P. Dixon, Jr., of the Times Staff, Melbourne; two brothers, Neill Brooks, publisher of the Progress, Calico Rock and Ralph Brooks of Little Rock; one aunt, Mrs Nannie McLean, Hardy, Ark.; and two granddaughters, Janet and Diane Dixon of Melbourne.
Funeral services were conducted at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Mt. Olive, Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. D. G. Hindman, pastor of Melbourne Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Mr. Olive Cemetery under direction of the Crouch Funeral Service of Batesville.
Pall bearers were: Loy Fudge, John Rosa, Jeff Copeland and Bradford Govan, Melbourne and Orville Chutney and U. E. Hudson, Calico Rock.

Daughter of Wm W. and Mary Brooks. She married Harry Powell Dixon Sr. They were the parents of Harry Powell Jr, born 1917. Harry and Pearl divorced. Harry Jr. married Velma Fudge. May Pearl rest in peace.
