EVANS, Martha PACE - Mrs. Martha Evans, aged 81 years, died at the home of her son, Frank Evans, near Cave Springs May 31, 1932. Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church in Cave Springs with the Rev. Mr. Johnson and the Rev. Mr. Deering officiating. Burial was made in the Phillips cemetery. Mrs. Evans was the daughter of Edmond and Margaret Pace and was born Dec. 17, 1851 in Lawrence County, Mo. With her parents she moved near Cave Springs when a child of 11 years. Here she spent the remainder of her life with the exception of two years spent in the state of Texas and one year in Colorado. She was united in marriage Dec. 7, 1871 to W.A. {Dick} Evans, who preceded her in death seven years ago. She had been in failing health for several years and after being bedfast for several months, passed away. She was converted at the age of 15 years and was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. Her great faith in God made her a patient sufferer. She was a devoted wife and mother. Edmond, her second child, died in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Pearl Shook, died in 1916. The surviving children who so deeply mourn her loss are J.T. Evans, Bentonville; Mrs. Tom Smith, Highfill; Mrs. Tom Williams, Hagerman, N. Mex.; W.B. Evans and Frank Evans, also Mrs. Will Shook of Cave Springs, 16 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Sue Tate, of Ft. Smith and a number of other relatives.
