Mrs. Maude Y. Rowe, 86, of 218 Julia St., died Thursday afternoon at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born May 16, 1884, in Rosston, and was the daughter of John T. and Elvia Simpson Young. She had been a resident of El Dorado for approximately 11 years moving here from Chidester. She was a member of the Marrable Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lennie E. Shankle, with whom she made her home, and Mrs. H. E. Pettway, Vicksburg, Miss.; a son, John Rowe, Monroe, La.; a granddaughter and a great granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Marrable Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Edgar Glover and Rev. Conway Sawyers officiating. Burial will follow in Chidester Cemetery under the direction of Young's. Pallbearers will be Warren McCullars, Jesse Dunn, Charles Moore, Raliegh Waller, J.Y. Moore and W. A. Thurmond. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service. (El Dorado Times - January 15, 1971)
