CARR, Mrs. A.A. {SPAIGHT} - Mrs. S.A. Carr died last night at ten o'clock at her home in this city, second door west of the M.E. church. She was stricken down with paralysis the first of last week and her condition was considered serious from the first. Funeral services were conducted at the residence this afternoon by Rev. Burroughs of Springdale, former pastor of the M.E. church, South here, of which denomination the deceased had for many years been a faithful and consistent member. Mrs. Carr was born October 12, 1840 in Sumpter Co., Alabama. Her maiden name was Spaight and she was a half sister of T.J. Gilbert of War Eagle, who has been here all the past week. Mrs. Carr spent most of her married life in Mississippi, where her husband died some fifteen years ago. She left that state and came with her family to Benton county about thirteen years ago, locating at War Eagle. Three years ago, with her daughters, Misses Kate and Clara, she moved to Rogers. She leaves seven children, four daughters and three sons: Mrs. J.T. Cottingham and Misses Clara and Kate Carr of this city; Mrs. Minnie Stringfield, Danville; E.S. Carr, Madding, Ark.; Robt. Carr, War Eagle; F.H. Carr, Pauls Valley, I.T. All of the family are now here. Mrs. Carr's death is a great blow to the family for she had all the attributes of a devoted Christian mother and her whole life was given to the service of children and friends. Beloved by all, the remembrance of her life will always be a blessed memory.
