Marie Whitfield, 79 of Mountain View, Arkansas entered into rest September 27, 2012 at Batesville, Arkansas.
Marie was born November 13, 1932 at Alco, Arkansas to David and Opal (Meadows) Stewart. She was a member of Highway 5 North Church of Christ. Marie was an educator. She taught in the public schools of Corning, Arkansas; Broseley, Missouri; and Mountain View, Arkansas. She retired in 1989 after 31 years of service to public education.
Marie is survived by her husband Dale of 62 years; daughters Phyllis Copeland of Danville, Arkansas; Ann Cooper of Melburne, Arkansas; Jeanne Herrington of Melburne, Arkansas; 9 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren.
Marie worshipped at the Highway 5 North Church of Christ where she and Dale were charter members of that congregation. She enjoyed working in the church, teaching children’s classes, and helping to cook for those wonderful “Pot Luck” lunches.
Marie enjoyed gardening, working in her flowers and shrubs. She found great satisfaction in sewing, quilting, and painting.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dave and Opal Stewart; brother Ray C. Stewart; sisters Ruby Henderson and Diane who died in infancy.
Visitation is 6 – 8 p. m. Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Roller Crouch Chapel, Mountain View, Arkansas.
Funeral service is 2 p.m., Sunday September 30, 2012 at Highway 5 North Church of Christ with Bro. Jeff Eddy and Bro. Randy Harris officiating. Pallbearers are Samuel Cooper, Junior Barham, Gerald Coleman, Lucian Herrington, Asa Whaley and Isaac Motes. Honorary Pallbearers are Ann Cooper, Phyllis Copeland, and Jeanne Herrington.
Roller Crouch Funeral Homes, Mountain View, Arkansas is in charge of the arrangements.
