ROGERS — FrankaDell "Frankie" Matthews, 81, of Rogers, died June 5, 2008. She was born in Pasadena, Calif., on April 4, 1927, to Albert and Audrey Ade11 Ekwall Stier. After high school, she graduated business college in Lincoln, Neb., and moved to Los Angeles to work as a secretary for the Matson Steam Lines. Due to her grandmother's health, she moved to Parsons, Kan., where she worked as an assistant fiscal clerk with the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant. She married Marion Matthews on May 12, 1951. In 1960, they moved to Fullerton, Calif., where she worked for Hunt-Wesson Foods as a transportation accountant. She retired from the Norton Simon Corporation. In 1977, after her husband's retirement, they moved to Bella Vista and, after subsequent moves, they ended up in Rogers in 1990 to be closer to their daughter.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Marion E. Matthews; sons, Theodore "Ted" Matthews of Irvine, Calif., Randall "Randy" Lee Matthews and wife Carolyn of Huntington Beach, Calif.; daughters, Deborah Kay Platanitis and husband Jim of Rogers, Marilyn Dubin and husband Doug of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in downtown Rogers.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday in the Callison-Lough Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Rogers Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ted Matthews, Randy Matthews, Jim Platanitis, Tommy Appleby, Robbie Dubin and Aaron Rash.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oakley Chapel United Methodist Church.
