BENTONVILLE — Josephine M. "Jo" Schmiegelow, 93, of Bentonville died March 3, 2009, at the Bradford House in Bentonville. She was born Oct. 9, 1915, in Tecumseh, Neb., to William A. and Caroline Beckman Goos.
She moved to Northwest Arkansas in 1949. She was a charter member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rogers. She sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for many years.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Clarence L. Schmiegelow, to whom she was married in 1935.
Survivors include a son, Vernon Schmiegelow and wife Elaine of Bentonville; two daughters, Gertrude "Trudy" Sheets of Lone Jack, Mo., and Jan Wilkerson and husband Jim of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Walter Goos of Holdrege, Neb.; three sisters, Olga Hantak of Cleveland, Ohio, Adaline Kuhlmann of McCook, Neb., and Bemita Heidzig of Auburn, Neb.; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rogers with the Rev. Gordon Besel officiating. Burial will be in the Rogers Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time.
Memorials may be made to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund, 1101 W. Hudson Road, Rogers, 72756.
