Melvin C. Baker, 58, of Rogers, died Wednesday, March 27, at St. Mary's-Rogers Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 13, 1932, at Larue to Clark Baker and Naomi Richards Baker. He was a graduate of Rogers High School, and worked for Strong's Grill for six years. He lived in California for 11 years and was assistant manager for Oscar's Drive-In. He was manager 16 years for Kentucky Fried Chicken in Springdale. He was a Navy veteran and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Margaret McMillan Baker; a son, Melvin Baker Jr. of Springdale; four daughters, Annie Baker, Marcella Sonnenberg, Melinda Vaughn and Melissa Fair, all of Rogers; four brothers, Arlen Baker of Fayetteville, Leroy Baker of Tulsa, Okla., J.M. Baker of Rogers, and J.D. Baker of Longmont, Colo.; two sisters, Reba Humphrey and Lou Johansen, both of Rogers; and two grandchildren.
Graveside service and burial are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Rogers Cemetery with Bobby Vaughn officiating. Visitation is to be 5-7 p.m. today at Burns Funeral Chapel in Rogers. Arrangements are by Burns Funeral Home of Rogers.
