MELBOURNE — John W. Sharp, 86, of Melbourne, formerly of Evening Shade, died Thursday, April 5, 2007, in a Mountain Home hospice.
Born March 13, 1921, at Love, he was the son of Frank A. and Francis Roberts Sharp. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a retired farmer and was on the board of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Sciences office in Izard County and the Soil Conservation Board. He was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Searcy.
Survivors include his wife, Nell Sharp; two sons, Glennis Sharp of Cotter and Franky Sharp of Evening Shade; two daughters, Kathryn Ray of Evening Shade and Pam Billingsley of Mountain Home; a sister, Margaret "Tootsie" Jackson of Ash Flat; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Lorah Lankford Sharp; and two sisters, Freda Fowler and Ethelene Johns.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Myron Baptist Church with Robert Hutchison officiating. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery near Myron under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers will be Van Thomas, Mike Sharp, Lonnie Haley, Skeeter Beene, Jason Rath and Billy Galla.
Honorary pallbearers are Hoyt Shell, Earl C. Haley, Ted Farris, W.E. Tompkins, Boyd Jackson and Guy Branscum.
