Hiram McKinley Thompson, age 93, of Quitman, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs. Born in Enders, Arkansas, on November 1, 1913, he was the son of the late William Anthony and Leatha Adeline (Chambers) Thompson.

A resident of Cleburne County for most of his life, Mr. Thompson was a farmer and timber worker. He enjoyed gospel music and entertaining others. Mr. Thompson often played at local nursing homes and had also played at the Ozark Folk Center in Mt. View, as well as at fundraisers for various charities. He was a member of South Cross Roads Church.

Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his first wife, Jewell (Neighbors) Thompson; an infant son, Harlan Thompson; two brothers, Elbert and Dee Thompson; and one sister, Ollie Cranford.

Survivors include his wife, Glenna Mae Sartain Thompson of Quitman; one son, Roger Thompson of Quitman; one daughter, Pat Tidwell and husband, Jerry, of Quitman; two stepsons, Larry Sartain and Steve Sartain, both of Greenbrier; three stepdaughters, Linda Ramer of Heber Springs, Judy Freeman of Quitman, and Becky Moore of Jackson, Missouri; one brother, Arlus Thompson of Pearson; three grandchildren, Ronald Thompson and William Thompson, both of Hammond, Louisiana, and Clay Thompson of Quitman; three great-grandchildren, Stephanie Thompson and Ronald Thompson, both of Metarie, Louisiana, and Brady Thompson of Heber Springs; and several step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and step great, great grandchildren. Mr. Thompson is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.
