*Comments by son Jerry Smith: When I 1st saw the picture of my mother, Elizabeth Cater Davis, my sister, Betty Sue, and brother, Bobby Dean's tombstone, it really touched my heart.
On another site, it stated all of us died along with them. That's not true, my older brother, EW, my older sister, Dixie, and I survived. EW had gone to town on his bicycle to get something for mother
for supper, and my sister carried me out to the fence, stood there holding
me, I was nearly 2 years old, crying because of the fire and the screaming.
I did a search from Elizabeth Cater Davis and the first thing I clicked on was the picture of their tombstone.mother, a sister, and a
brother was in this grave.
About 30 days after that my older
brother, EW and I were
placed in the orphan home at Texarkana by
our father.
Thank you.
Jerry Smith (son)
