Mrs. Loraine Holman Philhours, age 88, of Jonesboro, widow of Mr. David Philhours and former longtime Manila resident, died Monday at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Born at Delaplaine, Arkansas she was the daughter of the late John Leslie and Jessie Elinor Vaughn Holman and was a 1940 graduate of Hornersville High School in Hornersville, Missouri. She was a graduate of Arkansas State University and retired from Manila Public Schools in 1985. Mrs. Philhours was a former longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Manila and was a current member of the Walnut Street Baptist Church. She had been a Jonesboro resident for the past 9 years. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, John Holman, and a grandson, Matt Ellis.
Funeral service will be 2pm Thursday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Todd Ellis and Jimmy Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery.
