Charlie E. McAteer, age 79, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. W. Phillips, 624 Chestnut Street at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Mr. McAteer was born October 29, 1884 in Nevada County, Arkansas. He had been living in Camden for the past 33 years. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. E. W. Phillips and Mrs. I. C. Fitzhugh, both of Camden; two sons, Lee McAteer of Fairview and Lloyd McAteer of Bearden, one brother, W. E. McAteer of Price, Texas, by eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the First Methodist Church in Camden at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday by Rev. Duell Tanner, assisted by Rev. Gerald Fincher, associate pastor of the Methodist Church. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery by Proctor Funeral Home. Active casket bearers are: Jake McKoin, Dick Brasher, Bill Adams, Elmer Lunday, Van Gladden and Everett Cathey. The body will lie in state at her daughters home on Chestnut Street until funeral time. (Camden News - October 11, 1954)
