Vesta C. Payton
DECATUR — Vesta C. Payton, 95, of Decatur died Feb. 16, 2008, at Holden Manor Care in Missouri. She was born July 10, 1912, in Milan, Mo., to James and Bessie Handley Taylor.
She was a member of AARP and the Benton County Extension Homemakers. She was a member of Decatur Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford E. Payton, in 1962, and two sons, Clark Payton and James Payton.
Survivors include one son, Robert E. Payton of El Cajon, Calif.; three daughters, Belle Hintion of Amarillo, Texas, Doris Clifton of Kentucky and Janice Caparoon of Centerview, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Vernita Knizely and Martha Perry and Betty Cowan, all of Oklahoma City.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, www. wassonfuneralhome.com.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Gentry Cemetery. The Rev. Dennis Jech will officiate.
