Mr. Raymond Smith "Buddy" Barnett, 73 of Hamburg, AR, died Saturday, December 03, 2011 at his country home in Hamburg, (Crossett Camp Community).
He was a native of Crossett, a former Bastrop, LA resident for 35 years, and a resident of Hamburg for the past 2 years. He was a retired construction worker and a member of Second Baptist Church in Crossett.
Mr. Barnett was a 1959 graduate of Crossett High School. Upon graduation, he received an athletic scholarship to run track at the University of AR at Fayetteville. While working at the Crossett Sawmill during the summer after graduation, he cut his foot on a saw blade and never got the opportunity to attend the university.
He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting with his squirrel dog Diamond, and he also loved fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents: William Dewey and Angie Rosalie Blissett Barnett, one brother, Cardell Barnett, two sisters, Mammie Nugent and Johnnie Mae Bostic.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Eileen Coleman-Barnett, two sons: Raymond Robert Barnett of Houston, TX, Brian Coleman of Bastrop, LA, three daughters: Rita K. Barnett of Hamburg, AR, Amanda Parker, husband Chad of Sterlington, LA and Stacey Cornville of Bastrop, LA, three sisters: Inez Bell, husband J.C. of Pennington, AL, Hazel Andrews Townsend, husband Lloyd of Crossett, AR, Mary Beth Edgar, husband Jimmy of Hamburg, AR, eight grandchildren, a special friend, Frankie Harris and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
