A graveside service for Wanda L. Southard of Cotter was held at 1:00PM, Saturday, April 19, 2003, at the Galatia Cemetery near Norfork, Arkansas. Rev. Dr. Michael Shy, pastor of East Side Baptist Chruch, Mt. Home, officiated. Mrs. Southard died Monday, April 14, 2003, at the home of her son, Terry in Charleston, Indiana. She was 70.
She was born at Mt. Home, Arkansas, May 15, 1932, to Bertie and Edward T. Douglas. She married Hugh Charles Southard at Mt. Home on September 6, 1949. She worked as a bookkeeper for a dry cleaning business in California prior to her retirement. After their retiremnt in 1990, she and her husband moved to Cotter. He preceded her in death on August 13, 1999. She was a member of East Side Baptist Chruch.
Mrs. Southard is survived by twin sons and their wives, Larry and Debra Southard of Colton, California, and Terry and Anna Southard of Charleston, Indiana; one sister, Louise Adams of California; two brothers, Kenneth Douglas of Arizona and Ernest Douglas of Wahington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Virginia "Ginger" Walker; and one brother Johnny Douglas.
Roller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Services for Hugh C. Southard of Cotter will be at 2PM Wednesday at East Side Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Michael Shy officiating. Mr. Southard died Friday (Aug 13, 1999) at Baxter County Regional Hospital. He was 72.
Mr. Southard was born Sep 2, 1926, at Norfork to Tom and Pearl Parnell Southard. He married the former Wanda Douglas Sep 6, 1949, at Mt. Home. He was an inspector of the Carrier Corporation. Formerly of Upland, CA, he had lived in Cotter since 1990. He served in the US Army and was a member of the East Side Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Southard of Cotter; twin sons, Larry Southard and wife, Debra, of Colton, CA, and Terry Southard and wife Anne, of Charleston, IN; two brothers, Clifton Southard and wife Verna, of Kansas City, MO, and Howard Southard and wife, Lanara, of Pensacola, FL; two sisters, Clara Perry and husband, Hurshel of Mt. Home, and Noal Edens of Chino, CA, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Pearl Soutard and three sisters.
Visitation will be from noon to 9PM today at Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends for 6-8PM. Burial will be in Galatia Cemetery at Norfork.
Roller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to East Side Baptist Church.
