WALKER, Sarah E. BRAITHWAITE - Mrs. J.F. Walker died very suddenly Sunday afternoon between one and two o'clock at the home on South Arkansas street. She had apparently been in her usual health and none of the family had heard the slightest complaint. The end came very quickly and she was dead when one of the girls found her. She was a large woman and the result may have been caused by apoplexy. Funeral services were held at the residence Monday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. Peter Carnahan of Bentonville who had officiated at the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Walker, had received Mrs. Walker into the C.P. church, and had also conducted Mr. Walker's funeral. Burial was in the Rogers cemetery. Mrs. Walker's maiden name was Sarah E. Braithwaite and she was born July 4, 1858, being at the time of her death sixty-one years, nine months and sixteen days old. She was married to J.F. Walker at Bentonville January 1, 1880 and to them were born ten children, nine of whom are living as follows: Mrs. Rose Putman of Rogers; Mrs. Lillian Roller of Seligman, Mo.; Berry Walker of Rogers; Fred Walker of Springfield, Mo.; and living at home are Misses Almeda, Eva and Virginia Walker, and Dean and Don Walker. Mr. Walker died at the home in Rogers on April 30,1914. Mr. Walker was a prominent business man, engaged in both real estate and the grocery business. The family lived on their farm on Pea Ridge until 1892 when they came to Rogers and have lived here ever since. Mrs. Walker was a woman who remained chiefly in her home, happy in the cares and the work that comes with the successful raising of a large family. She was a woman of many splendid qualities and was held in the highest esteem by her friends and neighbors but it will be in the home, where for the last few years she has been both father and mother, that she will be most sorely missed. Those who know the family know best how much she has meant to her sons and daughters and how lonesome it will now be with both father and mother gone.
