Howard Whitney

WASHBURN, Mo. — Howard Fay Whitney, 69, of Washburn died March 21, 1995, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers. He was born Oct 19, 1925, in Clantonville to Scott Fay and Ada Clanton Whitney. He was a regional-marketing manager for Maytag Co. of Newton, Iowa, for 38 years before retiring to Washburn in 1988. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Cassville, Mo., and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harold Whitney.

Survivors include his wife, Lanola (Jeannie) Edens Whitney of the home, to whom he was married Oct. 28, 1945, in Exeter, Mo.; one son and daughter-in-law, Gregory Allen Whitney and Sally Mann of Berkeley Heights, NJ.: two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah Oliver and William Huntley Jr. of Nashville, Tenn., and Cheryl Dixon and Daniel Timothy of Conway; eight grandchildren, Nathan Howard Whitney,
Andrew Wilson Whitney, James Leslie Marshall III, Joshua Whitney Marshall, Jacob Daniel Dixon, Timothy Scott Dixon, Harvest Lee Dixon and Katy Marie Dixon; two sisters, Nadine Turner and Christine Ratterree, both of Tulsa, Okla.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Williamson Funeral Home of Cassvine with Gary Reed officiating. Burial will be in Ruddick Cemetery at Garfield.

Pallbearers will be Everett James Edens, Bill R. Whitney, Jame Leslie Marshall III, Joshua Whitney Marshall, Nathan Howard Whitney and Andrew Wilson Whitney.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Daniel Dixon, Timothy Scott Dixon, Harold Reese, Larry Blythe, Tom Cardin, Windle Hall Jr., Perry Griffin, Glen Dale Nicoll and Kenneth West.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Cassville; the Adult Choir Fund, or the Washburn Fire Department Medical Response Unit in care of the funeral home.
