Audie White Hays of Carlsbad, New Mexico, formerly of Melbourne, daughter of the late Jesse and Ellen Ward Robbins, was born December 30, 1907 in Wideman. She died February 22, 1998. She was 90.
Audie was united in marriage to Troy White April 12, 1924 in Wideman. After his death in 1978, she met R. C. Hays and they were married in the early 1980s. They lived in Oklahoma until Mr. Hays death at which time she returned to Melbourne. Mrs. Hays moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico, in 1992. She was a member of the Church of Christ, a homemaker and mother. She enjoyed making quilts. Her faith in God was a pillar of strength that guided her through her life.
Survivors include one son, Eugene White of Mountain Home; on daughter, Nadine Shelton of Wichita, Kansas; two brothers, Sewell Robbins of Montana and Rex Robbins of Wenatchee, Washington; eight grandchildren and 11 grea-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both her husbands, her parents and one daughter.
Graveside services will be held Friday, February 27, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. at the Oxford Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Orbra Ward, Eddie White, Son Lamb, Bob Langston, J. H. Ward and Jerry Ward.
Arrangements are under the direction of Howard Funeral Home in Melbourne.
[Note: Audie F. Hays was buried beside her first husband in the Oxford Cemetery under the surname of White even though her surname had been Hays for a number of yearas.]
