He was born April 4, 1924, in Crowder, MS, to James E. "Red" Griffith and Urania Long Griffith.
He attended public school in Crowder and graduated as salutatorian of his class in May, 1943. He was inducted into the Army on May 12, 1943, and retired as a Chief Warrant officer W-3 on June 30, 1963.

After moving to Stuttgart, Mr. Griffith began employment with Riceland Foods in September 1965 and retired in January 1986.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Agnes Lurlaine "Boots" Griffith; brothers, James and Kenneth Griffith; and sister, Virginia Griffith.

Survivors are his wife, Irene Maynard Benson Griffith; son, Bruce (Debra) Griffith of Stuttgart; grandson, Justin Griffith of Stuttgart; granddaughter, Jennifer (Brian) Frady of McRae; sister, Vivian (Morris) Ungren of Southaven, Miss.; six step-children; and several great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Thomas Bormann, were held at Turpin Funeral Home chapel. Burial with full military honors was in Bayou Meto Cemetery.
