John E. Rice
John E. Rice, 86, of Joplin, Mo., died Saturday night at St. John's Medical Center at Joplin. He was born Sept. 6, 1889 in Carroll County. He was a mamber of the Blendville Christian Church in Joplin. He had lived in Joplin since 1941.

He is survived by one son, Jack Rice of Joplin; two daughters, Mrs. Maxine Harjo of Joplin and Mrs. Ruby Slankard of Joplin; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Bodiford of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Bessie Dashier of Harrison; and three grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Mason Chapel in Joplin. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Rambo Cemetery east of Rogers. Orvin Dally, minister, will officiate.

Mrs. Minnie Ethelyn Rice, 78, of Joplin, Mo., died Wednesday at her home in Joplin. She was born Dec. 19, 1895, in Benton County.

She moved to Joplin in 1941 and was a member of the Blendville Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, John Rice of the home; one son, Jack Edward Rice of Joplin, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Rudy Slankard and Mrs. Maxine Harjo, both of Joplin; one sister, Mrs. Almeda Goodart of Joplin; and three grandhildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at the Mason Mortuary in Joplin with the Rev. Irvin Dalley officiating. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Rambo Cemetery near Rogers.
