Obituary
On February 4th the death angel visited the vicinity of Day, this county and claimed as his victim one of our most prominentcitizens, Rev. D. H. Boles.
After fighting that scourge of mankind typhoid fever for twice a
score of days, come death on his sable wings of destruction and in spite
of all that medical skill and loving hands could do, cut the thread of
life and another soul has traded the cares and sorrows of this world for
the glories of the city not made with hands which is prepared fro the
faithful and whose king and Lord is Almighty God.
Yes, Brother Boles is gone on the long journey from which not
traveler returns but the mystic cores of memory stretching from the cold
clay to every living heart and soul of those who knew him will live for
ever inspiring them to purer living and better thinking. Thus in a way
Bro. Boles is still with us.
He was laid to rest in the Humphries graveyard in the presence
of a large crowd of friends who with heavy hearts and tear stained faces
watched while all that was mortal of Bro. Boles was interred in the city
of the dead there to await the eventful morning when Christ Jesus comes
again to earth to reward the faithful and punish the wicked.
Bro. Boles leaves a wife and five children, two boys and three
girls, two brothers and countless friends (rest of line unreadable)
strive to live their lives in such a way that when they come to face the
great adventure they may hope to meet Brother Boles where there is no
sad parting, no go byes and no sorrow to mar the peace and happiness of
the chosen God.
Brother Boles was a devout Christian man, preaching and living
the gospel as it is laid down in the blessed book of God. As a Christian
Brother Boles (few words unreadable) as a father he was kind and tender,
as a husband, loving and true; as a man fair and square and as a citizen
and neighbor loved by all who knew him. -- Geary Ditmore
