Phillip N. Gronseth, 72, of Bela Vista passed away April 7, 2006, at Fayetteville. Phil was born July 18, 1933, in Minneapolis, Minn., to the Rev. James W. Gronseth and Julia Grandstrand Gronseth. Phil was the beloved husband of Lynne Mueller Gronseth of Bella Vista and beloved father of Alexander M. Khalat.

Phil is survived by his children, Phillip N. Gronseth Jr. of Monument, Colo., Joyce Easthouse of Minneapolis, Renee Either of Minneapolis and Carolyn Van Hosen of Roswell, Ga.; brother of Magdalene Stolee, 86, Kenyon, Minn., Luther Gronseth, 85, Eagen, Minn., Joyce Limburgh, 84, Apple Valley, Minn., and the Rev. Stephen Gronseth, 80, Atlantic, Iowa; grandfather of Matt and Suzie Gronseth, Owensboro, Ky., Amy and Paul Berry, Colorado Springs, Colo., Julia Van Hosen, Roswell, Ga., Conner Van Hosen, Roswell, Ga., and David Easthouse.

Phil attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis. He dearly loved the college and always maintained close ties to the college. Phil left gifts to both the athletic and biology departments of Augsburg. Phil was an entrepreneur and owned a sporting goods store and vending business in Minneapolis. Phil retired in Arkansas to take advantage of the natural beauty, temperate climate and beautiful golf courses. Phil attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fayetteville and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayetteville.

Phil devoted the last year of his life to being a devoted husband and father and had finally found true peace and happiness. He loved life and relished each and every moment he spent with his family and close friends who lived in Northwest Arkansas. He loved attending Walton Arts Center performances and attended Razorback football, baseball and basketball games. Phil had been an avid golfer and built his own personal 9-hole putting green so he could continue his love of the sport. Phil was a very talented singer and loved to listen to different genres of music, particularly Christian. He devoted a large portion of his time to singing in church and performed publicly on numerous occasions while living in Minneapolis.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22 at St. Thomas Aquinas, 603 N. Leverett Ave., Fayetteville, followed by interment in Fairview Memorial Gardens, 1728 E. Mission Blvd., Fayetteville.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 21 at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville, 4520 N. Crossover Road, online at www.nelsonberna.com.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

A celebration of his life will follow interment at the Inn at Carnall Hall, University of Arkansas, 465 N. Arkansas Ave., Fayetteville.

The family requests donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Arkansas, 1 Lile Court, Suite 201, Little Rock, 72205, 501-664-4343, in lieu of flowers.
