Monty Polk Jr., 77, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999.


A native of Greenville, Miss., he was a son of the late Montgomery Polk Sr. and Mary Louise Quinn Polk, a graduate of Burris (La.) High School, a pilot in the Air Force during World War II, member of the Clarksville Church of Christ and Tomball, Texas, VFW, and an employee of Exxon Tiger Mart.


Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Donie Polk; one daughter, Martha Svanda of Taylor, Texas; two sons, James Sanders of Salem, Mo., and Vernie Sanders of Clarksville, AR.; two sisters, Mary Louise Milton of Tomball, Texas, and Lillian Beshears of Corpus Christi, Texas; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral service for Donie Ivy Polk was September 18, 2010 at Salem Church of Christ, Salem, with Bro. Rick Pitchford officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary, Salem, and Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
Graveside service was September 20, 2010 in the Lone Pine Cemetery, Clarksville, Ark., with Bro. John Ballard officiating.
Mrs. Polk was born May 9, 1916 in Texas state to John and Amanda Bentley. Mrs. Polk died September 15, 2010 in Salem at the age of 94 years.
Survivors include three children, James Sanders and wife, Claudette, Salem; Martha Svanda, Midland, Texas; and Vernie Sanders, Ozone, Ark.; two sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Milton, Washington state; and Lillian Beshears, Texas state; one special friend, Cheryl Lough, Salem; seven grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Amanda Bentley; husband, Monty Polk Jr. and twelve brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Polk was a member of the Salem Church of Christ.
