Mattie Sanford, duaghter of Mr. and Mrs. James B. Sanford, was born in Michigan July 2, 1840 and died May 29, 1924. She was married to Jas. M. Bull in 1861 with whom she lived happily until the day of his death 14 years ago. She was converted in early life and lived a consistent Christian until the end came. She was a member of the Methodist church and was always present at the regular services, and the different institutions of the same, when she was able to get there. She was one of a large family of 12 children, 7 of whom preceded her to the spirit world and, me thinks, were waiting anxiously for her arrival. Five are still of this side of the river and soon will join her at their eternal home where parting will be no more. She was carefully cared for by loving relatives and friends to the end. Her remains were brought to Gentry for interment. This was her home for a number of years. Her life was a benediction to our town and to all who knew her. Her husband was converted near the middle of his life, joined the Methodist Episcopal church, and soon after felt the call to preach and became one of the great scholars as well as evangelists of his church. They have both left is for a higher realm while their bodied sleep side by side in our beautiful cemetery, waiting their Lord's call. Funeral services were conducted by B.L. Harrid and S.F. Brown preached the sermon.
