RODGERS, girl - A little five-year-old child of Mr. and Mrs. P.A. Rodgers met with a sad accident Thursday morning of last week. The little girl was standing near the fire when the mother retired from the room for some purpose and had only been absent a few minutes when she heard the child scream. She hastened to the room only to find the child in flames. She threw her dress around it and smothered the flames but too late to accomplish any good. The child was badly burned from its knees to its head. Drs. Hugh and Priestly were called and administered every known remedy but to no avail. The little one suffered intensely until Saturday morning when its spirit took its flight to its reward in heaven. The funeral occurred Sunday from the family residence and the remains were followed to their final resting place in Bethel cemetery by a large concourse of relatives and friends. The News offers condolence to the grief stricken family.

RODGERS, Mrs. P.A. - {from Pond} Mrs. P.A. Rodgers died of typhoid fever Jan. 22, and Mack, her oldest child, is very sick with the same disease; of which his brother, Iddie, died a few weeks ago. Truly the hand of affliction lies heavily upon the family. We deeply sympathize with them, especially with the father and husband in the loss of her who so faithfully and lovingly walked by his side.

The many friends throughout the county of Hon. P.A. Rodgers will learn with sincere regret the death of his wife which occurred last Sunday. Typhoid fever was the cause of her death and a son is also dangerously ill with the same disease. One son died only a short time before his mother's demise. Mr. Rodgers certainly has the sympathy of the entire county in his extreme affliction.
