(from The Springdale News) Opal, four year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wylie Graham residing northeast of Springdale, met with a most heartrending death Sunday. The little child was out in the yard playing with some matches when her clothing caught fire and before help could reach her she was so badly burned that she died Sunday night about nine o'clock. The first person to reach her was Miss Lillie Craig and all of the child's clothing except the band of her dress was burned from the body. Miss Craig, in her endeavors to aid the child, was badly burned about the hands. It was not thought at first that the burns of the child were so serious but notwithstanding every effort was made to relieve the sufferings of the little one, it was of little avail.
