Services for Mary Jane Bowman of Calico Rock will be at 2PM Thursday at Galatia Community Church at Norfork with the Rev. George Dixon officiating. Mrs. Bowman died Tuesday (Sep 8, 1998) at White River Health Care. She was 90.
Mrs. Bowman was born Feb 14, 1908, in Baxter County, a daughter of John and Betty Barton Tilley. She married George Preston Bowman and was a homemaker. Formerly of Culp, she had lived at Calico Rock since 1981. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
She is survived by four sons, Johnny Miles Bowman of Calico Rick, Blevin Eugene Bowman of Culp, Howard Wayne Bowman of Norfork and Jessie Bowman of Mt. Home; one daughter, Betty Ann Vredenburg of Violet Hill; two brothers, Jim Tilley of North Carolina and Frankie Tilley of Whiteville; one sister Hazel Payne of Norfork; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one son.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8PM today at Kirby Funeral home. Burial will be in Galatia Cemetery in Norfork. Pallbearers are L.J. Lawson. Lloyd Loosey, Joshua Loosey, John Acklin, Scotty Acklin and Richard Sheild. Honoray pallbearer is Ashley Lawson.
Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral Directors. Kirby & Family, Batesville Casket Company and the US Forest Service have provided for the planting of a tree as a living memorial and tribute to Mrs. Bowman.
