Siloam Springs — Arthur C. Rakes, 64, of Gentry, died Sunday in a Fayetteville hospital. Born May 12, 1905 at Bentonville, he was a retired salesman, a Baptist, a veteran of World War II.
Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Carol Rakes of the home; three sons, William of the U.S. Marines, San Diego, Calif., David and Philip, both of the home; five brothers, William D. of Centerton, Roy and Otto both of Bentonville and Frank and Bob both of Rogers and two sisters, Mrs. Marie Maxwell and Mrs. Evelyn Jones, both of Bentonville.
Funeral service will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wasson Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Hart Cemetery.

GENTRY - Carol Ann Rakes, 80, of Gentry died Aug. 1, 2004, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. She was born Aug. 31, 1923, in Maplewood, N.J., to W.M. and Anna Schwenker Klunder. She taught school in Pea Ridge, Gentry and Gravette. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She moved to Northwest Arkansas in 1955. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.C. Rakes and one son, David M. Rakes.
Survivors include two sons, William Rakes of Creal Springs, Ill., and Phillip Rakes of Fayetteville; one granddaughter, Ursula Rakes.
A memorial graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Hart Cemetery in Bentonville with John Baker officiating.
Arrangements are by Benton County Funeral Home, Rogers.
