ROGERS — Louis A. Brown Jr., 92, died Oct. 31, 2012, at his home. He was better known around the area as "The Candy Airplane Man." He was born on June 19, 1920, in Salina, Kan., to the late Louis A. Brown Sr. and Maud E. (Rodwell) Slyter.

He made over 2,000 candy airplanes last year and 200,000 over his lifetime.

They were constructed out of candy canes, gum wrappers and mints and he handed them out to people around town.

Mr. Brown drove the city bus in Wichita, Kan., Pine Bluff and Fayetteville for over 25 years and in Little Rock in the '50s and mid '60s. Then he went to work for Emerson Electric for the next 20 years before retiring.

He was a member of the Arkansas State Guard, organized during WWII.

He is survived by his two sons, Joe Brown and Robert Brown, both of Rogers. He also leaves four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Brown in February of 1991; daughter-in-law, Nancy Brown; two brothers, Jack and Richard Slyter, and one sister, Marie Rolland.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Rogers on Olive and 8th Street. Burial will follow at Rogers Cemetery.

A visitation will be Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Callison-Lough Funeral Home Rogers.

Evelyn Brown, 62, of Rogers, died Monday, Feb. 18, at St. Mary-Rogers Memorial Hospital.

Born May 17, 1928, at Eureka Springs to Cleo T David and Dorothy Lugenbell David, she had worked more than 10 years at St. Mary-Rogers Memorial Hospital. She worked at St. Vincent Hospital from 1957 to 1960. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Rogers.

Survivors are her husband, Louis A. Brown; two sons, Joe David Brown of Rogers, currently serving in Saudi Arabia, and Ed Brown of Rogers, currently serving in Germany; her father, Cleo David of Rogers; two brothers, Roland and Ross David, both of Pea Ridge; seven sisters, Frances Lankin of Washburn, Mo., Lucille Bowman and Berniece Evans, both of Rogers, Lavera Byers of Mansfield, Joyce Raymer of Pea Ridge, Stella Knapton of Tulsa, Okla., and Joada Vanhook of Cave Springs; and six grandchildren.

Funeral is set for 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ben J. Rowell officiating. Burial is to be in Rogers Cemetery.
