Sallye Peterson Taylor, 81, of Hamburg, died Monday, April 6, 2015 at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett. Mrs. Taylor was a native of Stuttgart and a resident of Hamburg for the past 65 years. She served as the Ashley County Tax Collector for 35 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and she loved spending time with her grandchildren, bird watching, fishing, golfing and working in her yard and her flowers.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Katie Mitchell Peterson; three sisters, Charleen Peterson Wells, Martha Nell Peterson Fleming and June Peterson Livingston.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Frank Taylor; a son, Mitchell Taylor and wife, Erin, all of Hamburg; two daughters, Lynda Taylor of Searcy and McKenzie Taylor Olsen of Encino, California; two brothers, Bobby Peterson of Hamburg and Fred Peterson of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and five grandchildren, Colt Taylor, Kaela Taylor, Nicholas Taylor, Jake Olsen and Taylor Olsen.

Funeral services are 10 a.m., Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating. Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery. Pallbearers are Larry Smith, Sam Evans, Bobby Griffin, Jim Moss, Joey Hartley and Billy Hudson. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, PO Box 352, Hamburg, AR 71646.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Frank Taylor, 96, of Hamburg, died Thursday, January 27, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. Mr. Taylor was a lifelong resident of Hamburg and 1944 graduate of Hamburg High School. He attended Drones Business College in Little Rock and he proudly served his country in the United States Navy, having served during World War II. He worked as a Lion Oil Distributor for many years before owning his own business, Taylor Oil, for over 35 years. Mr. Taylor was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Hamburg Masonic Lodge #465 for over 75 years, and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church. Mr. Taylor was a physical fitness activist, avid jogger, weightlifter and walker until his 90th birthday. In high school, he was Senior Class President, Yearbook Editor, starting tailback and safety for the football team and would also play the tuba at halftime. In 10th grade, he started the basketball team which he played on, coached and drove to games. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf and bird watching, but above all, God, Country and Family. His family was always his number one priority and he loved spending every waking moment of his retirement with his grandson, Nicholas.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Sallye “Pearl” Peterson Taylor in 2015; his parents, M.F. “Dobbin” and Elizabeth Woods Taylor and a sister, Frances Elizabeth Taylor Wharton in 2017.

He is survived by a son, Mitchell Taylor and wife, Erin, of Hamburg; two daughters, Lynda Taylor of Searcy and McKenzie Taylor Olsen of Los Angeles, California; eight grandchildren, Jake Olsen, Courtney Taylor Olsen, Kaela Taylor, Nicholas Taylor, Trent Olsen, Ashley Olsen, Mary-Kate Olsen and Elizabeth Olsen; a great-granddaughter, Scarlett Elizabeth; two nephews, Richard Wharton of El Dorado and Jim Wharton of St. Louis, Missouri.

Funeral services are 2 p.m., Monday, January 31, 2022, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Ty Danielson and Rev. Rick Bolin officiating. Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery with Military Honors and Masonic Rites. Pallbearers are Tim Collier, Jim Moss, Bobby Griffin, Sam Evans, Tommy Hollis, and James Hamilton. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Hamburg Masonic Lodge #465. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
