Lela Jones was born November 18, 1896 in Ozark, Arkansas to Myles and Annie Bell Flanigan. The family moved to Paris, Arkansas during her early childhood. She was a member of the Allena Baptist Church in Paris, Arkansas at an early age under the late Rev. J. N. Nance. In 1915 she moved to Fort Smith and joined the Mount Moriah Baptist Church. She was an outstanding personality, an enjoyable conversationist of the Bible and religious work. She served as President of the Church, Woman's Missionary Society for 28 years, she was a Group Captain, Treasurer of the Sunday School, a Circle Chairman and a member of the Adult Church School Class. Adviser of Dist. Women, State Vice President. In 1935 she married Eddie Jones. She died on Thursday, September 16, 1971.
