Elsie Edith Boyd, of the Dayton community passed away in the home on January 15, 2016. She celebrated her 83rd birthday by entering into Heaven.
Edith was born in Wichita, Kansas on January 15, 1933.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Franklin Boyd, and by long-term friend Bill Upton.

Edith is survived by three sons and their wives, all of the Dayton community – Tommy and Martha Boyd, Ken and Beth Boyd, and Bill and Nancy Boyd. She is also survived by seven grand kids – Tommy and Kim Boyd, Sara and Robert Lester, Laura and Jonathan McArthur, Hope Boyd, Katherine and Derek Mobbs, Caleb Boyd, and Phillip Boyd, and six great grand kids.

Edith had volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Mother, hauled teenage boys to baseball games and to the swimming holes, she shook her cowbell and threw confetti at the Mansfield Tigers football games, never met a stranger, was a regular coffee drinker at Don Martin's Dixie Bell drive in, blessed many folks with her hand-sewn hearts, and was known for her infectious smile.

Edith was a member of Kansas City Baptist Temple, attended Mansfield First Baptist Church, and later in life enjoyed worshipping the Lord Jesus Christ with the folks at Hon Baptist Church.

Funeral will be 10 am Tuesday Jan. 19 at the Mansfield First Baptist Church, with Interment at Union Ridge Cemetery in Dayton, under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home. Viewing will be 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home where the family will visit with friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Carroll Slate, Bruce Pyles, Kenny Burgett, Andy Moreton, Tony Boyd and Robert Lanning
