Josephine LeMaster Brooks, 89, of Fayetteville died Sunday, April 1, 2007, at Washington Regional Medical Center. She was born Feb. 1, 1918, in Fayetteville to Walter Cleveland LeMaster and Clara Carter LeMaster.

She had a variety of careers as a bookkeeper, income tax preparer for 60 years and a wedding caterer for more than 40 years. She worked as a Washington County poll worker for more than 52 years, and was a Kentucky Colonel.

She was a wonderful mother and friend, who loved people and cooking. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, James Brooks, brother, Gregg LeMaster, sister, Martha LeMaster Olive.

Survivors include one son, Sherman Brooks and his wife Judy of Camden; two daughters, Susie Stewart and husband Phil of Fayetteville, Tisha Boscia and husband Bill of Fayetteville; grandson, Gregg Brooks Stewart of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, Jessica Ann Brooks of Camden, Shelly Durrett and husband Matt of Fayetteville, Shannon Stewart of Fayetteville; great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Lauren Durrett of Fayetteville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Beard's Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville, online at www.beardsfuneralchapel.com.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 4 at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Gene Fulcher and the Rev. Robert Hill officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
