Gene McElhaney Ogden, 79, of Fort Smith died Thursday, July 29, 1999, in a local hospital. He was retired, a Navy veteran of World War II and the widower of Elizabeth Caroline Ogden.

Graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.

He is survived by two daughters, Susan Coomer of Fort Smith and Sally Loftin of Greenwood; a son, Dan Ogden of Van Buren; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
